Glendon’s Rights & Democracy Delegation will be hosting a Regional Conference based on Corporate Social Responsibility taking place Friday March 2nd through Sunday March 4th. Attendees will include DD-RD delegates from over fifteen universities across Ontario as well as Economic and Business BA students from York. The purpose of the event is to educate students about the financial, social, and environmental realms of CSR.

Guest Speakers featured throughout the weekend will be Former Green Party Leader Jim Harris, and delegates from the following: Greenshift, Cascades, BMO, Bank of Nova Scotia, Schulich School of Business, Rights & Democracy, Amnesty International.

Guests will have the opportunity to participate in lively discussions, develop practical solutions that will encourage businesses to adopt a socially responsible method of trade. Our main goal is to generate awareness of the issues surrounding CSR, and to generate fresh thinking towards fair trade.

We have a wonderful program lined up for guests attending our CSR mingler. Along with leaving the conference with new ideas, we want you to have made new friends and lasting memories. Friday evening, there will be a wine & cheese meet n’ greet in our very own historic ballroom. With opening remarks by the Network followed by live music, guests can enjoy light appetizers and beverages while getting to know one another.

On Saturday, our keynote speaker will open our day, followed by two panels and a lunch. In the evening, we will be holding our hunger banquet as well as our very own sweat free fashion show.

On Sunday, our goal is to produce a proposal to present to our universities. This will provide criteria for administration do review the next academic year’s contract ‘with a conscious mind’. The program will wrap up around 2:00 in the afternoon.
